Middelburg Care Village celebrates 10 years!!!!

The Middelburg Care Village had a function on 11 April to celebrate 10 years in the business of caring for needy children. The Village was established in 2004 by the Rotary Clubs of Middelburg, Middelburg Cycad, Witbank and Witbank Coalfields as a joint project with funds sponsored from the then Angol Coal, Ingwe and Xstrata. The evening was used as an opportunity to thank sponsors for their contributions over the past 10 years, and to share some of the successes of the Village with them.About 50 of the children presented a dance and singing performance, after which the Mayor of Middelburg, Cllr Mike Masina and Chairperson of the Board of the Village, Andre Brandmuller addressed the gathering. The evening was concluded with wonderful music by entertainer Diether Uken.

Another Container has landed!!!!

The Middelburg Rotary Club received another container full of educational equipment (Desks, chairs, tables and shelving), sports equipment and books from our Rotary friends in Canada. The 12m container was offloaded at the warehouse in Middelburg by PDG Anton Meerkotter and his team, which included Andre Redman (An ex GSE student and wonderful friend of Rotary) during a visit from Bangladesh where he has been working for the past 4 years. We also had the help of PE Graeme Leathes,  with members of a local soccer team. It was a family affair for President Andre Brandmuller who came along with Leigh, Gustav and the littlest assistants of the day, Reuben and Abby.

Opening the container to find ........

Rotary Family Health Days 2014

The Middelburg Rotary club joined forces with the Department of Health and Careworx in taking responsibility for 4 sites in the Family Healthday rollout from 2-4 April 2014. Screenings for a number of diseases were done, as well as counselling and vaccinations.
A big thank you to all the Rotarians who participated at Bankfontein, Doornkop, Nasareth and Dullstroom. An even greater appreciation is due to PDG Anton Meerkotter who coordinated the efforts of Rotary in SA. Well done to everyone!!!!
